Last month, I wrote about running a 5k each month, each one coinciding with a runDisney event weekend. (You can read about it here.) Since I can’t break away to get to either WDW or Disneyland right now, the next best thing is to run every time my Disney running friends run 🙂 I got my first 5k of the year done on my treadmill during the Star Wars Half Weekend at Disneyland…evidence:
Well, February came quickly, and the Princess Half in WDW happened this weekend. Congrats to all my buds who ran because that is such a BIG accomplishment, whether it was a 5k, 10k, Half or Full Marathon! And in the spirit of camaraderie, I got my 5K done too, in the wonderful warm weather we had yesterday 🙂 And I am most grateful because I hadn’t felt like myself for the couple of days prior:
I was able to shave off 7 minutes off my 1st one! That really surprised me because I didn’t think I would move faster outside, with hills and such, and the fact that I ran more inside than I did yesterday (mostly a walking 5K). My average pace was 15:56 min/mi, so I feel like I am in there when it comes to preparing for an actual Disney run in 2017 🙂
I just want to encourage others out there that you CAN make training progress during the winter on a treadmill. Stay tuned for the next #DeesVirtualDisneyRun in my birth month of April!
Keep making progress,
