{Disclosure: I received a sample of the product in exchange for this review and post. all opinions expressed are my own. as always 🙂 enjoy!}

We say it/sing it all the time in church: There is none like You, Lord. Intrinsically, we get it, we understand that God stands alone in who He is and what He does. Yet, there is more depth to that heart expression than we know, and None Like Him by Jen Wilken helps us to explore the depth of what we sing so passionately.

From the Publisher:

NoneLikeHim2

God is self-existent, self-sufficient, eternal, immutable, omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent, sovereign, infinite, and incomprehensible.

We’re not.

And that’s a good thing.

Our limitations are by design. We were never meant to be God. But at the root of every sin is our rebellious desire to possess attributes that belong to God alone.

Calling us to embrace our limits as a means of glorifying God’s limitless power, Jen Wilkin invites us to celebrate the freedom that comes when we rest in letting God be God.

NoneLikeHim

None Like Him is a book to be digested. It is not a quick read, but a thoughtful and reflective one. Jen not only expounds upon God’s qualities that are His alone, but she also digs a little deeper as to how WE are in the light of who HE is.

For instance, she talks about the truth that God is incomprehensible…not one of us can have the full comprehension of all that He is. Yet, we can get to know Him, and what we learn of  the Lord  as we walk with Him  is MORE than sufficient for us while we live in the planet, more than enough. AND…we ourselves are FULLY comprehended by our Father, fully known. that is why we can only find real answers for ourselves and others in Him. He alone knows our hearts and the hearts of our neighbors, why we deal with things the way we do and what things will affect every lasting change in our hearts and actions. Whew! This sister goes deep, yet she makes it easy to receive and absorb 🙂
This book, while easy to read, is styled more like a study in the Word. At the end of each chapter there are:

  • Verses for meditation
  • Questions for personal reflection
  • A prayer to solidify what we have learned in that chapter

Jen takes us on a journey of  seeing God for more of who He is and standing in awe of that revelation, and “…embracing our limits in light of our limitless God.” I enjoyed seeing the magnitude of my Father in a deeper way. And she encourages us to let that awe inspire action: to let God lead, correct, change us, and more.
