I will never forget the day that my dad asked me a life changing question when I was 12. He came downstairs after having some prayer time with the Lord, and he asked me this simple question: Do you have a relationship with the Lord?
I was (and still am) a talkative person, but in that moment, I had no words. I had gone to church all my life because after all, my dad was a preacher of the Gospel. I enjoyed the things of God, and was comfortable in my routine. But when he asked me that one question, I was confronted with truth that I couldn’t get around.
Did I really have a relationship with God? Had I given my heart to Christ?
Truthfully, I didn’t. I had never up until that moment asked Jesus in. As that sunk in, my dad lovingly took time to explain to me that God loved me so much and wanted to live in my heart. He also showed me that all of us have a sin problem that can only be solved in Christ.
At that moment, both my mom and dad said a prayer with me and introduced me to Jesus. And then we got ready to go to the parent-teacher conference scheduled for that night. My life has literally never been the same.
The Bible tells me that now I am an ambassador for Christ, and it gives me this commission:
Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. (II Corinthians 5:20 NKJV)
God is about reconciliation, bringing people to Himself, not about constantly reminding you of how much you or me have sinned and failed Him. He already knows that, and made a way out through Him Son, Jesus. Everybody needs Jesus…He is the ONLY one who gave up His life so that we could have one. And he invites you to Himself, no matter what you have or haven’t done.
So, it is my pleasure to ask you the same question my dad asked me: Do you have a relationship with the Lord?
As His ambassador, it would be my pleasure to introduce you to my Lord and Best Friend…you can pray this simple prayer here:
“Dear God, I know that I am a sinner. I know that you sent Jesus to be my Savior, and that He died on the cross to take the punishment for my sins. I know that Jesus rose from the dead and is coming back someday. Please forgive me of all of my sins, and come into my life and change me. Please guide me in my life and help me to follow you for the rest of my life. Thank you for saving me and taking me to heaven when I die. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
If you received the Lord today, please let me know! You can tell me in the comments or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org I will be glad to pray for you as you begin (or renew) your walk and journey with Jesus 😉
Thanks for stopping by and taking time to read this, and I’m praying that you know the fullness of His love for you always!
God loves you big,
