Refreshing Review: Next Level Thinking from Joel Osteen

{I received this book for the purpose of review. All opinions expressed are my own. Enjoy! :)}

We were created to excel. Yet sometimes (a lot of times) our thoughts about ourselves, our past, our limitations try to create a barrier to all that we can be.

About the Book:

Joel Osteen, #1 bestselling author and pastor of Lakewood Church, invites you to set aside the shortcomings of the past and step into a new level of victory and favor.

Many of us have let our minds become conditioned to thinking we’ve reached our limits, we’ve made too many mistakes, we’ll never do anything great. What’s happened? Instead of moving forward, we’ve adapted to our environment. Instead of pushing beyond our bounds, we’ve allowed a bad break, how we were raised, living with insecurity, or what someone did or didn’t do to hold us back.

The good news is that people don’t determine our destiny-God does. And He has already taken into account every detail of our lives and factored them all into His plan. In his new book, NEXT LEVEL THINKING, Joel Osteen writes that we weren’t created to go through life weighed down by the past. God has destined us to rise higher-to the next level. When we leave behind the negative mind-sets, the scarcity mentality, and the limits others have put on us, we’ll experience the life of victory, favor, and abundance that was meant for us all along.

My Thoughts

This book is really about reconditioning your mind, to see things in life the way God sees them and to speak those things. It is full of hope and hope-filled stories, both from the Word of God and from the lives of contemporary people. Next Level Thinking resounds with the possibilities of God and what the Bible says, and it refreshes the spirit and reminds us not to settle for anything less than God’s best.

Pastor Osteen writes this book so that we can break barriers and soar: “You were made for more”. We don’t do that by our own power, but by believing God and what He says. Being willing to let go of old mindsets, the way we were raise, the limitations we have faced, etc. is key to going to the next level.

I have really enjoyed reading Next Level Thinking, because it is an easy book to read, to relate to, and to receive from. I also enjoyed the way the book is set up, so that it can be read a little at a time: during a morning devotional, on a lunch break, while waiting for an appointment, or before bed.

Next Level Thinking is now available for purchase in stores and online. It makes for a great gift for yourself or for someone you love. {And I hope that Pastor Joel comes out with an accompanying study guide for small groups!}

I close with this quote to lift your spirit: “This is a new day. Things that have held you back are being broken right now. You’re going to step into a new level of freedom. You’re going to break generational curses and start generational blessings. You’re about to see beauty for ashes, healing, promotion and breakthroughs. It’s headed your way!”

We are on our way to the next level!
