Part 2: Getting my body back…and a Giveaway!

I have found something that is helping my body! (please see part one of this post to get my back story, the one that might be like yours.)

I kinda “stumbled upon” (providentially) a program by Wendy Powell from the U.K. that is helping my body to get back into fighting form. After 16 years of trying, I am so grateful to have done so!

This DVD program, known as MuTu Focus, is about reconnecting your brain with your body and getting them to communicate once again. Sometimes after having children, our muscles are out if whack with how they used to function, and our bodies compensate by functioning dysfunctionally. MuTu offers simple sets of exercises to identify those muscles, reconnect, and strengthen them. the sets are grouped in Phases (4 of them) to be done for 2 weeks at a time (each phase) through a total of 8 weeks. In addition, Wendy takes time, before ever showing the exercises, to explain the science behind the program so that you know WHY this works and how your core muscles are connected to one another…wonderful!

This program is NOT about conventional crunches and other core exercises that actually do more harm then good. Nope, these are gentle yet effective movements that truly target your ab muscles, pelvic floor (no kegels, promise), and back and leg muscles. She shows you what a true “neutral spine” is, and how to maintain it through the exercises and throughout the day.

My favorite segments are the ones showing me how to hold my body as I walk, sit, stand, and lift. I never realized that I wasn’t quite holding my body correctly when I walked. Now I am so much more aware of proper form, and I get WAY more out of my fitness walks/runs because of it.

The phases in MuTu Focus are no more than 20 minutes in length, and they are modular. I can take certain movements from on Phase and use them in tandem with movements from another Phase. For instance, if there is an exercise for a particular Phase that is hard on my knees, I will just substitute in one from a phase I have already done that is easier on my body. Wendy doesn’t make it difficult at all!

While the DVD is fantastic, there are a couple of things to be aware of. Firstly, Wendy switches it up quickly between standing and floor exercises, so it is very necessary to keep your remote handy so that you can pause between segment and not feel rushed. Secondly, there are a few pieces of equipment (balls, bands) that she had you use with the exercises that caught me off guard when I first started the program. Not to worry! It is easy to find substitutes that you may have on hand, like a stretchy pair of stockings as a stand-in for the resistance band.

I feel as though I am finally making some headway in terms of having a stronger core, feeling stronger all over, and helping to lose my “mommy tummy.” I have a bit to go, but the MuTu Focus is surely helping me to reach my goal.

Now, there is nothing better than learning about a product AND getting to try it out for yourself, right? So….

It’s Giveaway time!!
