Hi friends! I just got the news about some new spa experiences happening at Massanutten Resort, and they sound fun and a little adventurous. Here are the details:
The Spa at Massanutten Resort today announced the debut of an Infrared Dry Sauna and a new, free Morning Massage Wellness Class. Along with these additions, the Spa has also unveiled a fully revamped 2018-2019 menu of services, expanding its offerings to the entire family. Select services include enhanced services for men, customizable treatments for teens and tweens, colorful hair wraps complete with beads and charms, and more.
“As part of a continuous effort to develop a spa experience that is welcoming and family-friendly, it is our pleasure to introduce a very thoughtfully crafted menu of interactive services which promote relaxation, rejuvenation, and is a wonderful space to enjoy time with loved ones,” said Sarah Elson, director of business relations at Massanutten Resort. “We look forward to offering our resort guests, as well as our owners, employees, local residents, and Massanutten Mountain Perks members, the best massages and wellness treatments in our area.”
What is an “infrared dry sauna”?
The new Infrared Dry Sauna at The Spa will heat up 30-to-100 percent quicker than traditional rock and water saunas and operate at a safe 130°F, maximizing therapeutic benefits. Studies indicate that potential health benefits of using the infrared sauna include detoxification, relaxation, pain relief, weight loss (burning up to 500 calories in 30 minutes), improved circulation, skin purification, anti-aging and muscle regeneration. The experience is $30 per person for 30 minutes, or $50 per couple.
A New Massage Class
For those interested in learning the benefits of massage and how to self-massage, a new Morning Massage Wellness Class is now available. Attendees will be introduced to stretching techniques, the health benefits of the services offered, and will join in on a Shiatsu back massager and reflexology roller demonstration, which are used for Myofascial release therapy. The class is offered Monday through Thursday at 9 a.m. on the Spa patio. There is no cost to attend, but registration is requested 24 hours in advance, as each session is limited to 12 guests. This class is the latest addition to the growing list of classes offered at The Spa, which include a couple’s massage class, foot reflexology, makeup, personal nail care class, and more.
