A road trip is only as fun as the way your body feels. Healthy eating plays a big part in being strong and able to enjoy all the sights and experiences. Whether traveling by car or via airplane, here are a few healthy travel snacks and snack tips I have found to make for smooth sailing.

You can never go wrong with fruits and veggies for the road!

I really enjoy traveling and the excitement of new things. I really DON’T like having a headache because I haven’t eaten for a long time, or feeling poorly because the quality of my diet isn’t what I am used to at home. By no means am I a health nut,  but I do realize that I have put a large percentage of good stuff in my body in order to get good stuff and energy out of it.

So, I make it a point to have some of my favorite snacks on hand when traveling. Whether its fresh fruit or some bagged treats, I carry what tastes good and makes me smile 🙂

Healthy travel snack #1: Fresh fruits & veggies

Grab a ziplock baggie and load it up with plump juicy seedless grapes or crispy sticks of celery! Fruits and vegetables like these are great for me because they are easy to transport. I can stow them in my bag on the road or in my backpack on a plane. I like my fresh snacks to stay cold, so I use one of my insulated bags or pack them next to a really cold (or partially frozen) bottle of water. Moreover, I can stay hydrated and have a tasty snack all at the same time 🙂

Snacks with a bit of protein

With my metabolism, protein is so helpful. I tend to look for snacks that include a bit of protein to keep me feeling full and keep my blood sugar from spiking and me getting tired. I have recently discovered Cello Whisps – all-natural cheese crisps. These are my new jam…they are so tasty! These light {and slightly addictive}snacks come in Parmesan cheese and Cheddar cheese flavors, and contain a whopping 9 – 13 grams of protein per serving. They are made of just cheese, and are both gluten and wheat-free. These little guys are easy to transport in their own bag that is resealable. (And since I love salads, they make a great crunchy topping for my veggies.) A win for traveling!

Sweets

Of course I’m gonna include something from this category! Sometimes you need that little bit of a favorite sweet treat to get you through while on the road. My go-tos include dark chocolate (the  70% kind), Twizzlers, Werther’s hard candies, M&Ms, and fruit gummy snacks. I feel better when I am able treat myself a bit in the midst of trying to keep balance in my overall diet. And these are pretty easy to carry in a car or plane as well.

Well, my friends at Cello Whisps sent a an extra set of their fun and delicious snack crisps..for me to give away, YAY!! We will keep things simple. In order to enter, answer the following question in the comments below:
