Daily living can be interesting, to say the least. Many of us need to navigate through a lot of different things that come our way. How do you handle the many moving parts of your life?
I like that phrase “moving parts”. It puts me in mind of a machine that has systems and doodads that have to work together. They have to sync in order to make the function of the machine most efficient. The phrase also speaks to a fluidity of motion, a rhythm…a flow. I like to look at my life as a flow, but not necessarily in the way the word is usually used.
My flow is not about “going with the flow” and just taking what happens. I am not just subject to the whims of what life tries to hand me.
No, my flow has to do with my faith in Christ. I have a walk with the Lord, and it is relational. He is the one who leads and guides me, as a Shepherd does, and it is time with Him that enables me to handle all the fluidity of my life.
There are unexpected challenges and situations that you and I encounter, no doubt. And it feels like a lot to deal with those and keep everything working. Nevertheless, in my own life I know that I’m not Lord of all those moving parts, HE is. And I can rest in that assurance as I hear from Him on how to move through them.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV
